 For your general information:

Sir Isaac Newton tells us in his 1672 nebula theory:

‘If the matter in the universe were placed in a confined space the particles because of their innate gravity, would come together in the center of the space but if the matter was placed in an infinite space the matter would form various masses throughout that space. Assuming that matter was of a “lucid nature” the Sun and stars would thus be formed.'

Edwin Hubble in 1929 at the Mount Watson observatory goes on to say that the galaxies are moving apart at such a rate that every 1300 million years the distance between the galaxies doubles. This does seem to indicate that there was a starting point and a big bang?

·   A new galaxy Canis Major Dwarf was discovered within the confines of our own in 2003, The Milky Way.

·   The distance between the center of this galaxy and ours is about 45,000 light years.

·   The distance between Earth and our galactic center is 30,000 light years.

·   The distance between Earth and Canis Dwarf is 25,000 light years.

·   The next closest galaxy to ours is the Sagittarius Dwarf at 50,000 light years.

·   This is followed by The Large Magellic Cloud, sort of a semi-galaxy, at 160,000 light years.

·   Andromeda, next up, is 2.5 million light years.

Just to refresh your memory:

·    Light travels at a speed of 9.46 X 10 ^12 kilometers/year.

·   The average speed of the galaxy could then be found using the formula – SPEED = [(2 X Distance in kilometers) / 1300 million years] / 2 – in km/yr.

·   The age of the galaxy could be calculated by finding how much slower than the speed of light the galaxy is travelling and multiplying that by the distance in light years. The formula for that is – AGE = (9.46 X 10^12  / speed of galaxy) X distance in light years. OK?

So:

·   Andromeda is 2.365 X 10^19 kilometers away (23.65 million trillion km.). It’s speed is 1.82 X10^10 (18.2 billion km./yr) which is [(9.46 X 10^12) / (1.82 X10^10)] = 520 times slower than light. So Andromeda is 520 X (2.5 X 10^6 l/y’s) = 1.3 billion years old. Simple eh!

·   The Large Magellic Cloud travels at 11.64 B km/yr and is 1.3 B years old.

·   Sagittarius Dwarf speed is 364 M km/yr and is – 1.3 B years old.

·   Canis Major Dwarf – speeds up to 327 M km/yr – 1.3 B which is the age of the Milky Way.

If you look at the ages and velocities a pattern emerges from Canis to Andromeda increasing speed and a constant age. Our neighboring galaxies must have come into existence at the same time.

For ease in calculating and remembering that with these large numbers we are always approximating we will call the age of the closest galaxies 1.2 billion years.

The age of Earth ?  Moses tells us that – the fourth day. Sun and stars came into being on the fourth day. So that’s 3 day’s to about the present. The length of day – (1.2B/3) = 400 million years. Times 6 = 2,400,000,000. Better yet 2,400,006,013 years old.

Book Of Genesis

 Chapter 1

God created Heaven and Earth, and all things therein, in six days.

2,400,004,000 BC

1 In the beginning God created the heavens, and the earth.

Heavens – the home of the angels either another galaxy or dimension. St. Paul tells us that there are at least 3 heavens. Jewish tradition states that there are 7 heavens.

2 And the earth was waste and void, and darkness covered the abyss; and the spirit of God moved over the waters.

Waste – a wasteland of ice, like Pluto, both water and the gases that make up the atmosphere would be solid as at this time there is neither light nor heat. Void – The Spanish words from which the word Canada is derived is translated – nothing there.

3 And God said: Be light made. And light was made. 4 And God saw the light that it was good; and he divided the light from the darkness.

Note, that at this point in time there, there is no Sun or stars. The light comes from burning gases – mainly helium and hydrogen. – of immense heat. The molten lava thus produced here has yet to cool. The Suns interior has a temperature of 27 million degrees Fahrenheit (!50 million C), luckily for us it drops to 10 thousand (5600 C) on its surface. This energy is caused by the fusion of 4 hydrogen nuclei into helium. When I went to school the La Place theory (the Earth was a spin-off from the Sun and its interior was lava) was taught. For over 100 years this theory was taught as gospel like Darwin’s evolution is today. Spectral-analysis tells us that the Sun contains only 61 of the 92 elements found on Earth but these only accounts for about 1.7% of its mass which could be accounted for as condensation from the initial explosion. Science now knows that the core of the Earth is composed of the heaviest, densest material. Newton in his nebula theory (which most astronomers now accept as fact) hints at this when he speaks of the innate gravity of the particles.

5 And he called the light Day, and the darkness Night; and there was evening and morning one day.

We now have time and space.

2,000,004,000 BC

6 And God said: Let there be a firmament made amidst the waters: and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made a firmament, and divided the waters that were under the firmament, from those that were above the firmament, and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament, Heaven; and the evening and morning were the second day.

We have here the preparations for insentient and sentient life – an atmosphere and soil which is furnished as the water erodes the rock. The light furnished in this eerie skyscape by the burning gases makes this possible. The necessary ingredients – earth, air, fire and water.

6 "A firmament"... By this name is here understood the whole space between the earth, and the highest stars. The lower part of which divideth the waters that are upon the earth, from those that are above in the clouds.

1,600,004,000 BC

9 God also said: Let the waters that are under the heaven, be gathered together into one place: and let the dry land appear. And it was so done. 10 And God called the dry land, Earth; and the gathering together of the waters, he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

With the cooling of the earth and resulting movement of the tectonic plates the molten lava was trapped beneath the Earth’s surface.

11 And he said: Let the earth bring forth vegetation, and such as may seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after its kind, which may have seed in itself upon the earth. And it was so done. 12 And the earth brought forth the green herb, and such as yieldeth seed according to its kind, and the tree that beareth fruit, having seed each one according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

It is necessary for vegetation to come before sentient life. Plants remove the poisonous carbon dioxide that comes from animals and replenish the oxygen in the atmosphere. Animals need food. The first fossil remains to be found in the lowest level of the Paleozoic geological strata are algae, seaweed, ferns and primitive pines. Seed bearing plants surface in the secondary Mesozoic period.

“Moses rightly places the creation of vegetable life before the creation of animal life, and then completes his account of its creation before dealing with the more complex forms of animal life ending with man. The fact that he places the creation on the third day does not necessarily mean that the creation was completed on the third day.” (p.18, Science of Today and the Problems of Genesis by Fr. Patrick O’Connell, B.D.)

1,200,004,000 BC

14 And God said: Let there be lights made in the firmament of heaven, to divide the day and the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years: 15 To shine in the firmament of heaven, and to give light upon the earth. And it was so done. 16 And God made two great lights: a greater light to rule the day; and a lesser light to rule the night: and the stars. 17 And he set them in the firmament of heaven to shine upon the earth. 18 And to rule the day and the night, and to divide the light and the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and morning were the fourth day.

16 "Two great lights"... God created on the first day, light, which being moved from east to west, by its rising and setting, made morning and evening. But on the fourth day he ordered and distributed this light, and made the sun, moon, and stars. The moon, though much less than the stars, is here called a great light, from its giving a far greater light to the earth than any of them.

So 1,200,006,013 years ago our galaxy, the Milky Way came into existence.

800,004,000 BC

20 God also said: Let the waters bring forth the creeping creature having life, and the fowl that may fly over the earth under the firmament of heaven. 21 And God created the great whales, and every living and moving creature, which the waters brought forth, according to their kinds, and every winged fowl according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And he blessed them, saying: Increase and multiply, and fill the waters of the sea: and let the birds be multiplied upon the earth. 23 And the evening and morning were the fifth day.

In the Paleozoic strata we find marine invertebrates (creeping creatureno backbones), fish (moving creature, which the waters brought forth), winged insects, land invertebrates and finally birds (fowl) appear in the Mesozoic area (Jurassic) because of there fragile skeleton structure (dept. of paleontology Berkley).

400,04,000 BC

24 And God said: Let the earth bring forth the living creature in its kind, cattle and creeping things, and beasts of the earth, according to their kinds. And it was so done. 25 And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, and cattle, and every thing that creepeth on the earth after its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Again in the Mesozoic period we find the great saurian reptiles (beasts). Recently feathers and wings were found with these beasts or dragons? We will have to thank my patron St. George for finishing these. Mammals (cattle)  then appear in the more recent Cenozoic strata. Moses somehow knew this without having to dig holes in the ground. The dates given to these periods by science are based on the assumption that the earth has always been 93 million miles from the sun.

4,000 BC

26 And he said: Let us make man to our image and likeness: and let him have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and the beasts, and the whole earth, and every creeping creature that moveth upon the earth. 27 And God created man to his own image: to the image of God he created him: male and female he created them.

26 "Let us make man to our image"... This image of God in man, is not in the body, but in the soul; which is a spiritual substance, endued with understanding and free will. God speaketh here in the plural number, to insinuate the plurality of persons in the Deity.

Evolution? The earliest (pre-hiatus) human skulls, that were found in the Mousterian, Acheulian and Tayacian strata (the dating, best case, an educated guess?), on average had a larger brain cavity and a much stronger skeletal structure than modern man.

See - http://www.archaeologyinfo.com/homosapiens.htm .

28 And God blessed them, saying: Increase and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and all living creatures that move upon the earth. 29 And God said: Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed upon the earth, and all trees that have in themselves seed of their own kind, to be your meat: 30 And to all beasts of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to all that move upon the earth, and wherein there is life, that they may have to feed upon. And it was so done.

28 "Increase and multiply"... This is not a precept, as some Protestant controvertists would have it, but a blessing, rendering them fruitful; for God had said the same words to the fishes, and birds, (ver. 22) who were incapable of receiving a precept.

31 And God saw all the things that he had made, and they were very good. And the evening and morning were the sixth day.

Then what happened?

2400 BC – The Flood (4000-1657)

Moses goes on to give us a couple of genealogies. Genesis chapter 5, from Adam to the birth of Noah’s son Seth – the year count is 1556. Noah was 500 at the time. Chapter 7, verse 11 tells us that Noah went into the ark and it started raining when he was 601. So 1657 (1556+101) is the year of the flood. The flood is euphemistically referred to by the paleontologists as the Hiatus and appears as a layer of loess in the strata followed by a marked absence of skulls in the soil for some time.

This inrush of warm water from the southern hemisphere sent the great glaciers to the southern regions and put an end to the mammoth and wooly rhinoceros.Their carcasses, which floated to the surface and remained in the cold region, were quickly frozen along with the debris that arrived from the tropical regions and was preserved for the boggling of future generations. A movement of the tectonic plates and subsequent land indentation possibly facilitated this. The reverse of what happened on the third day.

2000 BC – The Patriarchs (4000-2000)

Chapter 11 gives Shem’s (Noah’s son) genealogy up to Abraham, 390 years, and tells us that at this point man has been on the planet for 1,946 years (1556+390). Chapter 21 – Abraham gives birth to Isaac when he was 100 (so now we are at 2046). Chapter 25, verse 26 – Isaac gives birth to Jacob when 60 (2106 years).

1400 BC – Israelites enter the Promised Land (4000-2600)

We have here a time lapse (which we will guesstimate as 24 years) for Jacob’s s son Joseph being born, sold by his brother’s into Egypt, rising to a position of power there and subsequent immigration of his family to Egypt but the book of Exodus, chapter 12, verse 40 takes up the thread and tells us that the Israelites spent 430 years in Egypt and later 40 years in the desert before entering the promised land. The age of man would then be 2,600 years (2106+24+430+40).

1000 BC – The Kingdom of David (4000-3000)

The third book of Kings, chapter 6, verse 1 says that 480 years after Exodus Solomon begin to build his temple. So we have the Kingdom of David about 3000. Kings, chapter 2, verse 11 tells us that David reigned for 40 years. The year count then for David’s kingdom is 3000 [2600+480-40 (years in the desert) -4o (reign of David)].

500 BC – Israelites Return from Babylon (4000-3500) - Historians tell us the date is 528 BC.

The year 0 – The Birth of Christ

At the birth of Christ man had been on the planet for 4000 years.

So, 2014 years ago God paid us a visit (gospel of John, chapter 1 “the word was with God and the word was God … and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us”). For most of his life he worked as a carpenter. He was an observer. For 3 years he preached the gospel or good news. He spoke in parables or riddles expecting us to figure it out. - All these things Jesus spoke in parables to the multitudes : and without parables he did not speak to them.”Mt13:34

So what was the good news? You’ve got a brain, just like me. What was the bad news? Use it or lose it.

The good news? If you use your brain you’ll be happy. The bad news? If you don’t, I don’t really want you around me.

“With desolation is all the land made desolate ; because there is none that considereth in the heart."Jer12:11
